The California Lemon Law (Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act) protects consumers who purchase/lease defective warranted goods/vehicles in California. The Lemon Law applies to all consumer goods/vehicles purchased/leased at retail in California including, but not limited to – cars, trucks, vans, motor homes, RVs, motorcycles, appliances; etc. In order for the California Lemon Law to apply to a defective consumer good/vehicle, the good/vehicle must be covered by a warranty. A consumer good/vehicle that is considered to be a lemon under the California Lemon Law entitles the buyer of the good/vehicle to, among other things, restitution, reimbursement of the good’s/vehicle’s purchase price, a replacement good/vehicle, etc. The Lemon Law applies to new and used consumer goods/vehicles.

The Lemon Law applies to certain business use vehicles. The Lemon Law requires that the warrantor/manufacturer pay the consumer’s attorney’s fees. As such, cases may be taken on a contingency basis with no out of pocket expense for the consumer.
